Method
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and softened butter until a dough forms.
Roll dough thin between two sheets of parchment paper. Cut into rectangle bars and place on baking sheet.
Peel bananas and break wafer bars into rough crumbles — save the biggest chunks for topping!
Add whole milk, ripe bananas, honey, and heavy cream to blender.
Add half of the wafer crumbles into the blender too.
Secure lid tight. ADULT presses the blend button and holds it steady. Tell them when to stop!
Pour thick shake into tall glasses — go slow, it's rich!
Crush remaining wafer crumbles between your palms over the top. Make a wafer mountain!
ADULT whips the cream with sugar until fluffy, then spoon big swoops on top.
Drop final wafer bars standing up in the cream like tiny flags. Finish with a drizzle of honey if you want it extra shiny.

Kitchen Equipment
Primary Tool
OvenSafety & Storage
Cooking Temperature
Oven reaches 350°F (175°C) during wafer bar baking. Only adults handle hot baking sheets and remove from oven. Keep children at safe distance from hot appliances.
Handling
Kids should not touch hot wafer bars immediately after baking. Adult must remove baking sheet from oven and allow complete cooling on rack before children handle.
Equipment Safety
Only adults operate the blender. Ensure lid is secured tightly before blending. Stop immediately if unusual sounds occur or if lid loosens.
Storage
Whipped cream topping must be refrigerated until serving. Finished milkshake should be consumed within 2 hours. Leftover wafer bars store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Cross Contamination
If serving to allergen-sensitive individuals, thoroughly clean blender between uses. Wafer bars should not come into contact with other allergen-containing foods during preparation.
High Risk Population
This recipe contains multiple dairy sources. For lactose-intolerant individuals or those with milk allergies, substitute with oat milk, coconut cream, and dairy-free butter alternatives.
Pro Tips
Technique
Break your wafer bars into different sizes on purpose—keep some big chunky pieces for the topping so you get epic crunch explosions, and use smaller crumbs in the blender so they swirl through every sip like chocolate rivers.
Substitution
Out of fresh bananas? Frozen banana chunks work perfectly and make the shake even thicker and frostier—just let them thaw for 5 minutes before blending so your blender doesn't have to work overtime.
Batch Cooking
Bake a double batch of wafer bars and store them in an airtight container for up to 5 days—they stay crispy and are ready whenever you want to build another shake without turning on the oven.
From the chef
Okay, real talk—I invented this shake because I was tired of regular milkshakes that go all boring and smooth after one sip. I wanted a shake that fights back! So I baked chocolate wafer bars until they're snap-crisp, crumbled them into the blender with banana and honey, and then crowned the whole thing with whipped cream mountains and more wafer crumbles. Three textures in every single slurp. My little sister called it 'the shake that talks back' and honestly? That's the highest review I've ever gotten.
